Cheerleadergate 2005: The Aftermath

Renee & Angela Leave the Police Station

Further developments in the Cheerleadergate 2005 case:

Adult Magazine Courts Panthers Cheerleaders
Witnesses: Women Were Having Sex With Each Other

A popular adult magazine has made an offer to the two cheerleaders accused of having sex with each other in a Florida bar and getting involved in a fight, according to a Local 6 News report.

Penthouse magazine is courting Renee Thomas, 20, and Angela Keathley, 26, to pose nude, according to the report.

Penthouse is apparently hoping to cash in on what allegedly happened inside the Florida bar’s bathroom stall.

The woman were having sex with each other in the restroom, according to witnesses.

Witnesses told police a fight broke out after bar patrons complained the women were having sex in a restroom.

Renee Thomas, 20, of Pittsboro, N.C., and Angela Keathley, 26, of Belmont, N.C., were taken to Hillsborough County Jail early Sunday.

Police said Thomas was charged with battery after allegedly striking a bar patron when she was leaving the restroom. Police said she also gave officers a driver’s license belonging to another Panthers cheerleader who wasn’t in Tampa.

Detectives are trying to find out why Thomas had the driver’s license of the third cheerleader.

A team spokesman says the women violated a rule that bans conduct that’s embarrassing to the team or organization.

A spokesman for the Carolina Panthers said the two cheerleaders who were charged in Tampa have been kicked off the team.

A Penthouse representative said the magazine will likely have an offer to the women in writing this week, according to a report.

Update: Cheerleadergate 2005

ReneeAngela

According to the theSmokingGun.com:

11/8 UPDATE: The cheerleaders arrested for that Tampa bathroom brawl have been booted from the Carolina Panthers squad for allegedly engaging in conduct embarrassing to the team. In what many will likely view as a double standard since NFL stars are regularly arrested but allowed to continue playing, Renee Thomas and Angela Keathley will now have to seek another outlet for which to shake their pom-poms. The Panthers have removed any mention of the duo from the section of the team’s web site devoted to the TopCats, the cheerleading squad. A third cheerleader, Kristen Owen, was suspended since Thomas, 20, was carrying her driver’s license when popped (Owen was not in Tampa at the time).

SeanPiotrowski.net extends our condolences to the two unemployed ladies. If either of them are interested in working in another low paying job please contact SeanPiotrowski.net for work as Executive Assistants…

Also according to a report on Sirius’ Howard 100 the two names of these ladies are not their real names. They are merely aliases. Understandable given how high profile of a position a NFL Cheerleader is…

Yup…

Police: Two NFL cheerleaders arrested at Tampa bar
Tampa, Florida – Two Carolina Panther cheerleaders spent the night in jail after a rough night in Channelside. The Panthers were in town to play the Bucs Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses say Angela Keathley and Renee Thomas were engaged in some type of sexual activity inside a bathroom stall at Banana Joe’s around 2:20 am Sunday. Another woman waiting to use the bathroom got into an argument with the pair.

Police say Thomas punched the woman in the face. When Thomas was arrested, she gave police the name of another Panthers cheerleader.

Thomas could face additional charges for lying to police, once they confirm her identity.

Keathley was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing or opposing an officer, while Thomas was charged with one count of battery.

The two women were taken to Hillsborough County jail, where they both bonded out later Sunday morning.

They're Back!

Siegfried & Roy Back Onstage – As Patrons
By MARCUS KABEL, Associated Press Writer

BRANSON, Missouri – Two years and one month after a tiger attack that nearly killed him, magician Roy Horn and his partner Siegfried Fischbacher were back on stage Saturday, but as patrons rather than performers.

The Las Vegas team of Siegfried & Roy visited the Ozark resort of Branson to promote the show of protege Darren Romeo and make promises about their own return to performing.

“We will be back,” the black-clad Roy told reporters, speaking on the stage of the Welk Resort Theater before watching Romeo’s show there.

“I will make sure of that, because I am making a remarkable recovery,” he said. “The doctors have assured me I will be better than new.”

Roy, 61, has been undergoing rehabilitation after being partially paralyzed when a 380-pound (171-kilogram) white tiger attacked him on stage and dragged him by the neck during a performance of the “Siegfried & Roy” show at The Mirage resort in Las Vegas.

In Branson, Roy limped as he walked with the help of a black cane in his right hand and held his left arm crooked by his side. His words were slurred at times, and he left in a wheelchair after walking onto the stage with Siegfried.

Siegfried said Roy’s progress in recovery was like watching magic every day.

“What he is doing here, standing in front of you. He walked on stage. Even two months ago, the doctors said it would not be possible. Every day I see a miracle, I see magic,” Siegfried said.

“He is doing unbelievable. It is awesome,” he said.

Roy said he has worked hard to regain his ability to walk, working out on treadmills and bicycles daily.

“I’m going every day, seven days week, for three hours a day,” Roy said.

He also visits his tigers, including Montecore, the white tiger that bit him during a performance in October 2003.

“Of course. I do (visit them) now every day. People can see me there every day feeding my animals. … The animals give me the power to stay strong,” Roy said.

Siegfried said the visits were therapy for Roy.

“He visits them, he sits with them, he feeds them, he talks with them. This is the best therapy. I can see it every day,” Siegfried said.

Both men said they would be back — someday — on stage performing magic with their tigers.

“Of course,” Roy said. “I don’t want to let my fans down. So I promise them I will come back.”

But neither was willing to give a clue about when that may be.

“A good magician will never let the cat out of the bag,” Roy said.

The pair dismissed as baseless a lawsuit filed last month by a former security guard alleging that Siegfried forced Roy to take excess medication during his recovery. Louis Mydlach, 34, alleged in the civil lawsuit that he was wrongly fired after trying to protect Roy.

“This is disgusting,” Roy said.
