Elvis and the Iceman

“The one and only…”

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Elvis lately. I myself have always enjoyed Elvis’ later work. You know his Vegas era when he was doing liquid cocaine and trying to hypnotize people and nearly drowning in chicken soup. Ahhh 70′s Elvis was the best. His music was so soulful and funkified too. When I compare Vegas Elvis to young Elvis, Young Elvis just does not stand up. I just can’t stand the music he produced at that age. Anyway the Elvis song I am currently obsessed with is You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me. I also enjoy Suspicious Minds, Can’t Help Falling In Love With You, In the Ghetto, Kentucky Rain, Viva Las Vegas, and the Wonder of You. Do yourself a favor and check him out if you haven’t allready. I think you will enjoy it.

Today I read the most amazing story on Yahoo which I will share with you right now:
STOCKHOLM (Reuters) – An Icelandic fishing captain, known as “the Iceman” for his tough character, grabbed a 660-pound shark with his bare hands as it swam in shallow water toward his crew, a witness said Thursday.

The skipper of the trawler “Erik the Red” was on a beach in Kuummiit, east Greenland, watching his crew processing a catch when he saw the shark swimming toward the fish blood and guts — and his men.

Captain Sigurdur Petursson, known to locals as “the Iceman,” ran into the shallow water and grabbed the shark by its tail. He dragged it off to dry land and killed it with his knife.

“He caught it just with his hands. There was a lot of blood in the sea and the shark came in and he thought it was dangerous,” Frede Kilime, a hunter and fisherman who watched from the beach, told Reuters by phone from Greenland.

Icelandic author and journalist Reynir Traustason, who knows the trawler captain, said the act was typical of the man.

“He’s called ‘the Iceman’ because he isn’t scared of anything,” he said. “I know the people in that part of the world. They are really tough.”

This man is now my God. I will worship him and follow his every word. He is the toughest man in the Universe. Please go on a lecture tour so that we can all learn of your greatness. My holy pilgrimage to Iceland will be this summer and I will track this man down and join his fishing crew to learn from him.

Computer Case came, Black Mouse came, Mother Board Installed in case, Black Keyboard that meets my specifications bought, waiting on the rest…

Going to start my weekend…

A Letter to Quentin Tarantino

“Kill Bill has changed me forever…”

Dear Quentin Tarantino,
My name is SeanPiotrowski and I have been a fan of your films for a very long time. I also consider myself to be a purveyor of fine cinema due to my love of films from all generes. I have experienced many of cinema’s finest dramas, comedies, action films, independant films, and foreign films. I have favorite films from all of the different generes. I’d like to also mention that I have enjoyed all of your films. Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk till Dawn, and even Jackie Brown are all movies I enjoy very much. Last night I saw your newest film Kill Bill Vol. 1. I must say I had heard many good things about it and was not expecting more then your usual quality movie that you put out. Little did I know that what I was in for would be nothing like I have ever experienced in my entire life. While watching your film I enjoyed the fighting, the music, the actions, the story, and the acting. I was awe struck by the amazing choreography that went into the fight scenes and stunts. By far it is the finest kung-fu movie ever made.

The real reason I am writing you this letter tonight is because Kill Bill did something to me that no other movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life has never done to me. Not only did I watch this movie with my jaw dropped for more then 80% of the film but when I left the movie theatre I was overcome with emotion. As I left the theatre with my friend Turbo we didn’t say much to one another other then “Man that was amazing” and things to that effect. When we got outside I looked at my friend and said, “I feel like I’m going to cry” to which he responded “Yea me too”. The thing is I wasn’t kidding or exhaggerating. I felt this heavy weight on my chest and I felt as if I was going to bawl at any second. You see I was so moved by this movie. It filled me with emotion that no other movie in movie history has ever filled me with. As I spoke more and more about the movie to Turbo I felt as if I could lose it at any second. I would get vaclempt and short of breath. It was hard to talk about. I really have no idea why me and Turbo felt this way. I couldn’t even begin to try and understand it. It was just like I stood at the bottom of Niagra Falls and all the water was emotion. It flooded me with feelings that I never thought a movie could fill me with.

As I close this letter I want to say this film could potentially be the 21st century’s Citizen Kane, it all depends on how Vol. 2 turns out. I would also like to say to you, Congratulations. Volume 1 in and of itself is an accomplishment that few directors have ever experienced in their entire careers and here you’ve done it by your 4th film. I’d also like to thank you for making me feel something other then “that was a good movie”. Thank you for making me feel a schmorgasboard of emotions even if I have no idea why I was made to feel them. I am also sure my friend Dave “Turbo” Ullman thanks you. I look foward to Vol. 2 more and more with each passing minute. Again Thank you for making my Citizen Kane. For when I venture into film this will be the movie I try to match and base all of my work on.
Sincerly,
SeanRobertPiotrowski

Movies On the Move!

“John Sarin dedicated GameCube player…”

Allow me to get technical for a moment. Its nice to be on an internet connection that doesn’t have 28% packet loss. I’m coming to you live from Toms River, NJ where I am on sister watching duty for the evening. Today I bought a case for my computer and a red neon light for the inside of it. I also bought a sound card which has its own remote. Thats right folks SeanPiotrowski is slowly building a new computer. After 4 years of trusty service from the Dell its time to retire it from main PC service. I’ve decided to trick it out to the max so it will last me another 4 years or more. This week iTunes came out for the Windows platform. I’ve been using it for the Mac since August and I’ve been in love with it since then. Its nice to finally be able to listen to the iTunes radio stations now on my laptop and main pc. Infact I’m listening to it now here on the D600 laptop. Its a good program but I will not have it replace my trusty WinAmp. But the radio stations are great to listen to so I’ll hold onto it for that…

This week was an interesting one for movies. Kay and I watched Adrenalin Drive which was a Japanese language film about a boy and a girl who get wrapped up with the YAKUZA and they steal money from them and the Yakuza chase them. It also had a little romance in it. It was a great movie and we both enjoyed it. It was kinda like True Romance but less violent and more fun. I also watched the Usual Suspects. I must say for years people have been telling me how amazing it was and how great it is. Well after watching it I must say it was an enjoyable film but it was by no means the PINNACLE of film making that people have made it out to be. Basically to me it was Fight Club about crime. This morning I finally got to watch my newly purchased Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Special Edition DVD. For the past few months I’ve been watching classic horror movies and horror movies that have been billed as “the scariest of all time” and all though many of them have been enjoyable none of them have truly frightened me. Texas Chainsaw Massarce did have me tense up at moments. But it was by no means scary to me. It was disturbing in some ways and full of gore and blood. It also had crazy chainsaw violence. All of these things were all things I like in my horror even the main girl was hot. Even by today’s standards she was hot and this film was made in like 1970. Tonight or tommrow I will be watching Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. I will let you guys know how that one is. Seriously I’m so glad I signed up for NetFlix it is the greatest thing I’ve ever done…

I’m going to go now…

The Shooting

“Me and my boy Larry Bird…”

It was Thursday night. It had been two weeks since I had had a drink. I had just taken my midterm in Finance. SeanPiotrowski needed to unwind. Upon my return back to my house I come to find that Gearld had made his own makeshift jungle juice for the evening. I grabbed my favorite Larry Bird cup and drank away. Little did I know I’d be experiencing something for the first time tonight…

After drinking the juice out of my Larry Bird Cup for about two hours, looking at computer cases, and talking to Megan online; I was drunk and Gearld and John were going to the Pub. THE PUB I thought to myself would be a great place to go and unwind and have a good time. 6 pitchers and one Red Sox loss later it was time for us to go home…

Gearld, John, and I walked out the Pub’s side entrance onto the patio of the student center and walked toward the parking lot where Gearld’s BMW was waiting. As we made our way around the student center to the front of the student center we noticed that the Intercultural Greek Council was having one of their dances and that it was letting out too. At about this time John got lost a little behind us due to some people coming and saying hello to him. As we rounded the corner of the student center we heard POP POP POP. I immediately looked at Gearld and said “Gunshots bro”. Gearld concurred and we continued our slow walking pace back to his car at this point about 200 black kids were fleeing for their lives running all around us screaming. Gearld and I continued our slow pace walk. John was stuck back in the thickness of the crowd. A girl fell down and John helped her back up. Upon her rising to her feet she looked John in the eyes and said, “RUN WHITE BOY RUN!”. Gearld and I got in his car and started to leave Rider, we scooped up John from further down the road, and were on our way out when we noticed 8 police cars decending on the campus and two ambulences. As a line of cars built up waiting to leave campus the police sealed off the gate. NO ONE WAS LEAVING RIDER…

There we are 2 wasted and 1 not so wasted College kids, about 20th car in line to leave Rider, and NO ONE is allowed out. As we are sitting waiting Gearld speaks up, “FUCK THIS BROS I’m not waiting”. Gearld then gets out of line and heads to Rider’s O-Lot. Gearld heads to the O-Lot and lines himself up with this steep upward sloping hill of grass, mud, and wettness. The only thing seperating us from freedom was this hill for at the top of it was our road to freedom. Please remember we’re in Gearld’s rear wheel drive BMW 325i convertable which is lowered to like an inch off the ground. Gearld gunned it, we get about 75% up the hill, and we get stuck. Gealrd jumps out of the car with John and yells, “RECHARGE (my nickname) THROW IT IN REVERSE AND GET US DOWN THE HILL!” I jump into the drivers seat throw it into reverse and hit the gas while John and Gearld push from the front. We get loose and we’re back in the parking lot. We try it again, same thing happens. Third time we try it the front wheel is hanging over the curb but we are stuck in the mud and cannot get over. They push it down once again. Gearld comes to the drivers side window in the pouring rain, looks me in the eyes, and says, “Bro Fuck this we’re getting out of here.” He takes over as driver of the BMW John and I stand by and watch as Gearld backs up the car and gives himself some running room. All of a sudden he guns it. He starts his assent up the hill at probabily around 45 mph, gets to the top, and launches over the curb and lands his BMW onto the street. John and I run up the hill get in the car and the made our way to an off campus party…

We went to an off campus party and told everyone about our daring escape and how campus was on lock down. At around 3 am we left the party and headed home. Campus was still on lock down as we drove past again. We got back home at around 3:30 AM and I went up to my room. I was super drunk at this point and decided I was going to watch some TV…

I open my eyes, the TV is blaring loud, its still dark outside, and I feel like the black plague has taken over my body. I look at the clock, its 6:40 AM and my A.C. is blasting. I turn off the TV and go back to bed. I think to myself if I feel this way at 6:40 and I have to be up in 2 hours imagine how i will feel then. I go back to sleep…

All of a sudden I hear the Knight Rider theme song playing. I think to myself did I miss work? Clock only says 8 am so I am good. The boss wants something so I answer my cell phone hoping he was telling me the University was closed today due to the shooting. He was calling me for details on the shooting because apparently I texted messaged him about it the night before. I go back to bed once again…

The alarm goes off, its 9 AM time to get ready for work. I get ready and head to work. I arrive on campus at 10 AM and there is allready an Action 6 news van sitting infront of the Student Center. I park in the O-Lot and walk into the Student Center. As my coworkers come to the Help Desk asking me my story of the evening I start searching to see if anyone has carried the story yet to get a clearer picture of what happened. I finally found something. As I read the article it did not really offer me much information until I read the last paragraph:

“Authorities want to question four men who fled the scene shortly after the shooting occurred, but they remained at large early Friday. It’s not known if they were involved in the shooting or if they witnessed it.”

I thought to myself. Wait a second, there were 3 of us, and we were jumping in and out of Gearld’s car. Could they mean us????

As I left work today and walked back to my car in the O-Lot I looked at the scene of our daring escape. The grass was all torn up and there were some very deep tire tracks. Then I thought to myself something that John had said to me earlier in the day, “What would we have done if a cop actually came up to us and stopped us?” and with that for the first time in my life I did not have anything clever to think of for us to say or do if we were in that situation…

Well this fugutive at large has had a very long week. I’ll be back again soon with more details on this story as they unfold and some other things I didn’t get a chance to talk to you about here in today’s post…

Till next time…”Knock it back, I’ll have another one, Drinkin’ and Drivin’ is so much fun”
